I generally don't like things with excessive design, so the simple ANDADURA bags fit in very well with everyday use.
The new bag that we commissioned Yamamoto from ANDADURA to create this time has an asymmetrical design that emphasizes functionality, and is slanted to make it easier to put things in and take them out.
However, when you actually put it on your shoulder, the slope is barely noticeable, and I really like how it looks simple yet functional.
The following is from Mr. Yamamoto of ANDADURA
SLANT
This year, I worked with Jiji, a clothing maker in Wakayama, to make a bag again. This is the third bag design this year.
From the very first bag I made, I would ask jiji's Hikiami about his image and then I would give it shape, and this has naturally become the usual way of working with jiji.
This time too, I asked about the size and image, and then I took it into myself.
Getting my body in shape so that my image can move far, and imagine a bag.
A person appears wearing a bag that is angled. Through repeated prototypes, we search for the lines within the image.
Creating works that follow an image is something I've done every year, but I feel like the theme (or mood, as you might call it) changes a little every year.
It's also a tradition every year that I make the tags and packaging myself (without any prior discussion).
The letters are tilted at the same angle as the bag, but by shifting the position of the holes in the tag, the tag is tilted so that the letters are parallel.
The previous two models were called "FLAT," but Hikiami thought, "There's something subtly different about this bag," and named this one "SLANT."
I'm happy that it's an annual event, and I'm also happy that it's changing little by little. I hope you will continue to support "SLANT," which has been created in this way.
